The Investigative Services Bureau of the Romulus Police Department is comprised of three investigators and a supervisor. There is also a prosecutor assigned solely to handle family criminal matters and a victim advocate.

Detectives are responsible for investigating crimes committed against persons, including misdemeanor and felonious assaults, kidnappings, armed robberies, carjacking, sex assaults and homicides.  The juvenile officer is assigned to juvenile offenses, issues in the schools, child predator investigations, child pornography, child abuse and child neglect.

Investigation responsibilities include pursuing cases from initial patrol reports through warrant presentation to local and/or Wayne County Prosecutor's Offices.

The Investigative Services Bureau also assigns officers to I.C.E., DRANO, and D.E.A. task forces to combat illegal drug trafficking within and surrounding our borders.

School Liaison Officers

The department, in cooperation with the Romulus Community Schools, assigns School Liaison Officers to provide coverage to all Romulus Schools. School Liaison Officers maintain offices at Romulus High School and Romulus Middle School. These officers investigate incidents that occur on school property, serve as resources for school administration, staff and students, and provide a link between the students and the Police Department.

Crime Tips
An additional crime prevention effort that the Investigative Services Bureau is involved with is Crime Stoppers.  Crime Stoppers provides cash rewards for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest on any criminal cases. For more information, contact Capt. Derran Shelby at (734) 942-6864 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
