The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) released a report last month on nonresidential development in southeast Michigan during 2018.
Throughout the report, Romulus was touted as a large source of the development. In the seven-county region, nonresidential floorspace increased by 37% in 2018. Of the seven regions, Wayne County ranked first with 10 million square feet of nonresidential development floorspace last year.
Romulus not only led the county, but the entire region with 3.2 million square feet of floorspace. This was more than even the City of Detroit with two million square feet.
The Amazon Distribution Center in Romulus was easily the largest project in the county and the region at 2.3 million square feet.
