Magnum Tools Owner and Founder Dan Martin moved his business, Magnum Tools, to Romulus in 2006 after seeing a few of his friends’ businesses experience success and growth in the city. Dan also liked Romulus’ convenient location near I-275 and I-94.
Magnum Tools specializes in the sales and distribution of high-end construction equipment and supplies to residential and commercial contractors. However, since the COVID-19 outbreak, Magnum Tools has put “business as usual” on hold to create portable Plexiglass sneeze guards that sit on store counters to protect store clerks and gas station employees from the virus.
The idea struck after Dan stopped at a local gas station on his way to work a few weeks ago, and saw multiple customers sneezing and coughing in line. He witnessed the potential dangers to clerks and knew there had to be a way to help businesses protect customer-facing employees. Within just seven hours, Dan’s team began working on the sneeze guards.
Mangum Tools had all the materials it needed on-hand to create the guards and was able to mass produce them at an affordable rate. The sneeze guards are a universal fit and long lasting, meaning they can be easily installed and uninstalled during peak flu seasons.
In the past two weeks, Magnum Tools has deployed more than 2,500 sneeze guards throughout Michigan and some out of state, too. Businesses have the option to pick up the sneeze guards from Magnum Tools’ location at 30690 Cypress Road or have the product delivered directly to their door by a team of volunteers.
Magnum Tools’ goal? To play its part in slowing the spread of the virus.
“If we can help slow the spread of the virus, less people will get sick. The sooner we can get businesses back up and running, the sooner people in our community will get their jobs back and start earning money again.”
