Yard Waste

Overview

Because the Stay-at-Home order has been lifted, and City Hall has re-opened, residents must now purchase a landfill voucher in-person at the Treasurer's Office prior to dumping at Woodland Meadows Landfill.

Guidelines

Items such as grass clippings and small branches are removed between the second full week of April and the second full week of December by a waste disposal company contracted by the City of Romulus.

• Yard waste must be placed in yard waste brown paper bags or a container labeled with a Yard Waste Sticker (available from Public Works or City Hall).
• Yard waste must be separated from regular rubbish by at least three feet. During the defined season, yard waste will be picked up by a separate truck.
• Small branches, shrubs, twigs, etc. must be tied in bundles of no more than 3 feet in length. The bundles should not weigh more than 50lbs.
• Plastic bags containing yard waste will not be accepted for pickup.
• Mixed yard waste and regular rubbish are not accepted for pickup.
• Residents are encouraged to use the method of composting whenever possible and wherever reasonable.
