Mayor LeRoy Burcroff was born in 1964 to the late Dean and Shirley Burcroff. Mr. Dean Burcroff, a Navy veteran, volunteer Romulus firefighter, and local Romulus business owner along with his wife Mrs. Shirley Burcroff, a Romulus School teacher and homemaker, instilled the core values of hard work, integrity, commitment, compassion, and community service in the Mayor throughout his upbringing.
Mayor Burcroff is a lifelong Romulus resident and Romulus High School graduate was very active in school and sports and was always an easy choice for leadership roles and positions. He served as his high school class president and homecoming king, as well as Captain of the varsity wrestling team and played baseball and football as well. Even back then he showed outstanding judgment and great decision-making skills in locating, meeting, and eventually marrying his high school sweetheart Ms. Jerilynn Kain.
After high school and while attending college, he took an entry-level position at the company Bearing Service and ended up making a very long and successful career there. He worked his way into multiple supervisory and leadership positions, and ultimately all the way up to a Vice President's position within the company. While working full time and helping raise his three children, Dean, Brad, and Nancy, he still found the time to give back to his hometown by serving on many volunteer initiatives. He has served our community as a Planning Commissioner, City Council member, Chairman and Board Member of the Romulus Boys and Girls Club, Founder of the Romulus Clean Sweep Program, and he is an active member of the Community United Methodist Church.
When he's not working or volunteering the Mayor enjoys his dates with his wife, his three children, and his grandson Gavin.
Mayor Burcroff believes that integrity-driven leadership, outstanding customer service, safe neighborhoods, financial stability, and a "business-friendly" city administration are important areas for local government to focus on; and he believes we can take proven solutions from the private sector and transfer them to public sector and reap the same outstanding successes and benefits.
